Yesterday we honored all those affected by the tragic events
on September 11th, 2001. I was proud to be a part of this ceremony
that took place in Hudson, New Hampshire.
This remarkable memorial service was organized by the 9-11
memorial committee members. The memorial consists of a 23 foot I-beam taken
from Tower I of the World Trade Center, and a glass tower representing Tower
II. Both stand in remembrance of all those who lost their lives on that day 10
years ago. The perimeter of the memorial is a pentagon, while the walkway into
the memorial represents the flight path of American Airline flight #77 into the
U.S. Pentagon. The green lawn area within the pentagon perimeter symbolizes the
United Airline flight #93, which crashed in Shanksville, PA, and honors those
who bravely prevented the plane from reaching its intended destination. Markers
along the path show the timeline of the tragic events that occurred on 9-11-01.
Yesterday’s turnout shows that 10 years later, we still come
together, united, to honor everyone who lost their lives on that day, and those
who have died since to protect our country, and our freedom.
I would like to thank everyone who put in the hard work to
create this memorial, and to all that helped put this event together. I would
also like to thank all the brave men, women, first responders, law enforcement,
and everyone in the military that serve and protect our country each and every
day.
